Looking after your skin and hair during the Autumn.

Changing your beauty routine with the seasons can be frustrating at times as the different seasons can affect our skin and hair. It is that time of the year to start thinking about changing our regimen to adapt to the weather. As we know the colder weather can irritate our skin and hair which leads to stripping off its natural moisture. Here are a few tips that we think you will find handy during the Autumn season.

Tip One: Black women are prone to oily skin since our skin has more oil glands than Caucasian skin. Due to the excessive number of sebaceous glands this can produce an oiler complexion. However, this should not deter you from using facial oils. Facials oils are a great addition to our skincare collection just if it is done in moderation. Do not be afraid to use a good facial oil however remember this should not be used as a moisturizer. Try our new face and body oil that will replenish and nourish the skin.

Tip Two: Exfoliate more regularly during this season, Autumn is a great time for exfoliation. During the Summer, the hot weather tends to increase sebum production. Exfoliating will help to minimize and leave your skin feeling smooth and removing dead skin.

Tip Three: Just like our skin, our hair needs moisture for it to stay strong and healthy. As the temperature starts to drop start to incorporate deep conditioning during your wash day, this will go onto promote growth, moisture, and more lustre.

Tip Four: As the weather gets colder, our skin is affected during the colder season. Cold weather can make our skin feeling dry and irritated which can strip away the natural barrier. Utilising products such as Shea butter in our skincare regimen can help to rejuvenate, soothe, and soften the skin. Shea butter is also an anti-inflammatory and has a plethora of healing properties. This multi-purpose product can be used for skin and hair.

Tip Five: Drinking more water during this season can help to improve the skin and hair, water flushes out the toxins from our organs and can also reduce stubborn skin issues such as acne.

Tip Six: Protein treatments are great for natural hair during this time but follow it up with deep moisturizing conditioner and leave in conditioner to seal in the moisture. Afterwards why not try the hair renewal and growth hair butter which will nourish and moisturise the hair and also promote growth.

We hope you find these tips handy and we would love to hear how you protect your skin and hair during the Autumn season!

  • BABY ROOTS WAS ONE OF THE PRODUCTS THAT REALLY PEEKED MY INTEREST INITIALLY, AS I WAS DESPERATELY SEARCHING FOR A PRODUCT THAT WOULD REALLY LOOK AFTER MY 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER’S HAIR… ENCOURAGING IT TO GROW AND ADDING GOODNESS TO HER SCALP. OVERALL I LOVED THE SMOOTH TEXTURE OF THE PRODUCT AND THE FACT IT WAS NOT TO HEAVY FOR HER HAIR. REAL QUALITY!!!
